Pilates for Back Pain - Clinical Pilates Videos

These Pilates for back pain workouts have all been designed and taught by experienced physiotherapist Lyndsay Hirst.

Does your back frequently feel painful or weak? Do you feel nervous about moving or doing certain activities in case your back 'goes'? Have you altered your activity levels because of back pain? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then these clinical Pilates for back pain exercises are for you. Exercise is proven to help back pain. I run a physiotherapy clinic in the UK and I see lots of patients with back pain. Commonly the patients I see will all present with similar dysfunctions in movement and similar weaknesses throughout their body. Certain parts of the back, hip and pelvis might be stiff or restricted, which might then have the knock on effect of another part of the body moving in an abnormal way. Clinical Pilates works to address these movement dysfunctions by retraining normal movement patterns and improving strength and control of the spine in all directions. Pilates specifically for back pain isn't just about strengthening the core muscle it is about addressing these movement dysfunctions in a way that improves function.

Your Pilates Physio has a range of physiotherapist-led back pain videos addressing the common issue of back pain – all of which you can find here in our Pilates for Back Pain course. These online classes have been designed to address the causes of back pain, helping you improve your posture, flexibility, and core strength. The exercises have the additional benefits of toning, weight loss, and relaxation, promoting better health overall.

Physiotherapist and Pilates instructor Lyndsay Hirst has developed this course to address back pain using multiple approaches, including: core muscle strength, spine stability and mobilisation, balance, posture improvement, and also targeting related areas of the body such as the shoulders, neck, and hips. As a result, this course offers a holistic approach to back pain relief and prevention in line with core clinical Pilates values. These exercises don’t just relieve pain but also help prevent future issues because they strengthen and tone the body for a healthier lifestyle.

Pilates for Back Pain

The only way you can truly get rid of your back pain is to strengthen your core muscles with clinical Pilates. These workouts are designed in such a way to steadily build strength in your core stabilising muscles to support the spine from further injury. You don't have to live with back pain anymore; this Your Pilates Physio course is ideal for relieving your pain and helping you feel healthier and happier.

The key exercises in the Pilates for back pain videos are:

1. Spinal mobilisations, specific stretches to loosen the spine and encourage segmental movement of each vertebrae.

2. Setting your spine into a neutral position, to ensure we achieve correct activation of the correct muscles we work in a neutral spine position.

3. Correct activation of the core, performing the exercise with an active core.

4. Breathing technique, we can use breathing to encourage a deeper and better activation of our core muscles.

5. Retraining functional movement patterns to allow your muscles to learn how to function again properly and pain free.
